Homegrown by Heroes

Here at Jones Hill Ranch we proudly display the Homegrown by Heroes label on all of our products. The Farmer Veteran Coalition bestows their seal on farms and ranches owned and run by veterans of military service.
My father (a WWII Army veteran) and my Native American mother moved their family to the Wisconsin farm in 1975. Farming and caring for the Earth and its creatures became truly engrained in my soul. So was serving my country.
My call to military service began by enlisting in the Army Reserve, one month after my 17th birthday, as an infantryman. I later won a 4 year Army ROTC scholarship and attended college near my family farm in Wisconsin so I could help out after class and on weekends.
After receiving a Regular Army commission I proudly served as an Airborne Ranger Infantry officer and had the privilege of commanding the Army Marksmanship Training Unit (MTU) #6 for the western United States. I was also a shooting member of the (1988) 1000 yard national championship team.

I was recruited out of the Army to the Los Angeles Police Department and served with pride in a wide variety of Patrol and Detective assignments for 25 years.
Every year since leaving the farm I returned at least twice a year to see the family and do the “heavy lifting.”
After retirement, I returned to care for my aging mother and take over the responsibilities of the family farm. Together with my wonderful and hard working wife, I started farming again.
In 2023, we moved our hog operation to the beautiful Ozarks in Southern Missouri. What we initially started out of motivation to reach food independence and have control over what we eat has grown into a passion to feed and support our community.
We now serve by bringing you the best pork in the world. Buy a half or whole hog today and see what a veteran can do for you.
